Backstage Blog
Over the last few months we've been working hard at creating a brand new website for Newcastle's gay scene. On this blog we'll be giving sneak peeks at what future additions to the site and discussing the work we're doing behind the scenes for all those geeky gayers out there.
We'll go into more detail in the next post, but for now we want to know what you think of the site so far. Send us your comments, queries and complaints to newmedia@newcastlegayscene.co.uk and we'll answer as many as possible in the next post.

Regular party-goers will have noticed that Heavens is now host to Handbag House. for those that aren't aware you can find out more on the official Facebook group. Fans of Handbag House will also know that all of the mixes are made available to download online, previously from the blog and now on the Facebook group. Today we launch a new trial aimed at exploring new ways to distribute music. It's called Slashmusic and it's been integrated into our (very highly modified) existing content management system, Cute News. The trial will be made public within the next week with every Handbag House mix available for download. Here's a quick preview of the new system at work.
Better, Connected
In developing the NGS website we created a list of major points and features we'd like to include. One of the most important features on that list was the ability to connect with other people from the scene and beyond. At launch we created NGS Xtra - a platform that aimed to be a cross between Myspace, Facebook and numerous other social networking sites.
As we've continued to develop Xtra and the main website we have realised the up-take of new sites has gradually slowed down, with more and more people preferring to stick with just one site.
To tackle this problem we're beginning to roll-out brand new features. Here's a look at what we have planned.
Let's Get Creative
Whether you're a photographer, artist, graphic designer or you just like to get snap happy and doodle we want your work. We want you to get creative and produce an image you think represents Newcastle Gay Scene. The best images will be featured on the site and you could win a prize.
A little something for your handbag and ours
Over the past week we've been making a few small changes across NGS Online.
